#1 Forte de São João
With the purpose to defend the estuary of the River Arade, originally it was a
watchtower in the fifteenth century, this building was adapted for residence in the early twentieth century by the hand of poet Coelho Carvalho, which gave it the romantic present appearance . Today it is a private property.


#2 Nossa Sra. da Conceição Church
It displays a typical architectural structure of a rural temple.

#4 Ponta do Altar Lighthouse
This lighthouse name comes from an prehistoric rock formation once located in this area, which with erosion and over the centuries fell overboard. Local geographically located between the beaches of Torrado and Caneiros Beach, has a lighthouse built in 1893, currently is automated and is controlled remotely from the St. Vincent Cape Lighthouse (Sagres).

The place name is due to the presence of numerous sources of water, that cames from the highest phreatic spot in Algarve, known for Querença – Silves , or Lias – Dodger, according to geologists.
