One of the capes of greater difficulty for navigation due to the crossing of winds and sea currents and one of the headlights with greater reach of Europe. It has one of the nine Fresnel lenses in the world.

This protected area extends from São Torpes to Burgau, with a length of 110km, characterized by a coast with abrupt and very sharp cliffs that hide small sandy beaches.
